Video: Meet Head-Elect Clair Ward

In a video interview, Shore's Head-elect Clair Ward talks about returning to her North Shore roots, honoring the 30-year legacy of Larry Griffin, and steering the school into the future.

Reflecting on her visit to Shore in the fall, she admits that she was struck by the initiative, openness, and genuine pride she witnessed from students. "Being at recess and having children approach me, wanting to 'school' me on their school—routines and even cultural things about how they treat each other—was truly impressive."

"What I find conspicuous about Shore," she continues, "is the thing that is missing from so many school settings, which is the notion that learning can be joyful and happy. No one ever forgets why they're here; everyone's driven by what's necessary, right, happy, and safe for children."

Ward explains, "The alignment between what I believe as an educator and what Shore believes is important is the reason that I'm here."
