Shore arrived at Brookwood and found a perfectly matched opponent. Our JV team displayed many of the skills acquired over the season, and our defense held as strong as ever. Despite some promising opportunities, our offense was unable to net a goal. Still, the flurry of shots in the closing minutes – including a shot square off the post and a well-aimed header – made for a thrilling finish to the season. Our 0-0 tie left us wanting more, which is perhaps fitting for a season’s end.
Shore struggled to shake off the bus legs against a physical team in the Fay School. Talented opposing strikers notched multiple goals quickly. However, Shore showed grit in responding to the challenge in the second half. We tied Fay in those thirty minutes, 1-1!
Shore encountered a spirited and spunky team in Austin Prep, succumbing to a little silliness in the face of the challenge. Our squad applied significant pressure and endured countless “almosts” in striving for the win, which unfortunately eluded us. I personally have never seen more corner kicks in a single span! In the end, Shore could not muster the goals for the tie.
Varsity field hockey was excited to play under the lights at Fay School. While Shore came up short by a score of 4-1, it was hard fought game full of highlights from talented players on both teams.
Despite the score, Shore played some of its best soccer today against a bigger opponent in Fessenden. Our defense deserves praise for its toughness, and both goalies made several stunning saves. In addition, players connected give-and-go passes with aplomb. Their coach was most impressed by the grit Shore displayed up to the last whistle. We will rise again!
Shore's annual Rummage Sale, a parent-led volunteer effort, benefits countless families through donations of clothing and other goods to local service organizations.
Shore shook off the bus legs quickly in our away game against Fenn today, equalizing goals in the first half. Despite spirited play on both sides of the ball, Shore gave up one too many and left the match on the losing end. However, the team hit other targets such as successful through-balls and good low, hard shots. A hard-fought game!
Writer and television producer Lisa Fenn will speak at Shore on November 15 about her award-winning book, which tells the story of her adoption of two disabled young wrestlers.
Shore displayed significant prowess on the pitch Wednesday in our win over cross-town rivals Brookwood. Though we did have to weather a few scary moments, including a free kick glancing the cross-bar, the JV Soccer team out-possessed and outscored the opponent in fine fashion. In fact, we distributed the ball to various corners of the field with success, which is a key aim of any talented team. What is more, our goals were scored with firm, low shots, and our defense held the opposition scoreless. What more could a coach want?
After succumbing to a 4-1 deficit against a scrappy and talented opponent Thursday at Glen Urquhart, Shore hustled to notch two goals and make it a nail-biter of a finish. Shore displayed several moments of brilliance throughout the game and deserves to feel proud of the effort. Nevertheless, our boys got their first taste of a stinging defeat, leaving a hunger for payback when we meet again near the end of the season.
Grace Lin, the award-winning author/illustrator of 'The Ugly Vegetables' and 'Where the Mountain Meets the Moon,' spoke with students about her books and her Asian American heritage.
Shore travelled to Brookwood for its second game of the season on Wednesday. They came out on top with a 4-1 win on the strength of a solid back four that kept the Brookwood attack at bay. Logan opened the scoring after 15 minutes, slotting home a cross with ease. Brookwood leveled the score only a few minutes later on the individual skill of a fabulous free kick. Shore bounced back after Brookwood's goal when Alex O. won a battle for the ball in the penalty box and used his left foot to record his second goal of the season.
The Beavers put their foot on the gas in the first 6 minutes of the second half when some fantastic defending led to Spencer slipping Alex O. into space. Alex did the rest, driving a shot past the keeper. The scoring was capped off with a lovely corner kick from Hughie. Will C. met the ball at the front post redirecting it to John F. who did the rest.
After two games, Shore has yet to allow a goal from the run of play. Props to Kealan, Sam B., Charlie F., John F., Alex S., Mason G., and Linden A. who have done yeoman's work. Walker and Wells have been fabulous in protecting the back four in their role as defensive center midfielders.
The Beavers will be at home on Friday to battle a traditionally talented and pesky Pike team.

Shore JV Soccer displayed talent and heart in their tie with worthy opponents from the Fenn school today. Under a strong sun, our players remained stalwart in the face of an early goal against, and we rebounded quickly to equalize the score. Thrilling play characterized the whole match, but the last five minutes rival any bout heretofore seen. In the closing moments, consecutive headers struck the cross bar, alas, falling harmlessly behind the net. The ultimate minute saw a string of passes result in the ball in the back of the net, only to be called back for a close off sides! Big kudos to our solid defense and goaltending for maintaining the tie, and huge thanks to Surrogate Coach Clark for stepping in for Papa Ahern. Until next week…

The Boys JV Soccer Team earned its first interscholastic minutes of the season in a hard-fought battle against Tower. Our opponents, on the other hand, arrived with three games already under their belt, exhibiting prowess which was revealed in their deft finishing touch. Tower dominated play in the first third of the game, but once Shore found its feet, we asserted steady pressure for the rest of the game, netting two impressive goals and narrowly missing countless other opportunities. We will march on with more experience and more hunger in our next match!

Shore jumped out to an early lead and never gave it back. Brookwood rallied late but it was not enough as the boys built too much of a lead. Good effort everyone!
Another strong showing by the boys in Blue. Austin put up a stern challenge in the opening quarter before some quality ball movement open up the play. Great job boys!

GG added 3 while Paulina, Ryan, Hope, Devon, and Lexie scored as well. Strong defense by Ally, Sarah, Emily, and Ceci helped to seal the win. It was a nice win for the team!

Boys Varsity Lacrosse was off to a quick start, going ahead 9-2 in the 1st period against Brookwood. Teams settled into more deliberate play as Shore held onto their lead. Lots of playing time for everyone and the game also was the debut game for Teddy as a goalie. Congratulations boys!
On Tuesday, April 18, the varsity softball team got their season off to a fine start with a victory over Pike School. As the visiting team, we came to bat first and scored two runs in the top of the first. Over the next three innings, we were able to build on this lead with some timely hitting, opportunistic baserunning, and steady pitching by Ainsley and Julia. Bella E cracked a resounding ground rule double, and Erynn and Kiara combined for the game's fielding highlight. Kudos also to Bella T for her fine work behind the plate.

We arrived to Brandeis to find not only Meadowbrook but also Nobles ready to play! While it required some mathmatical figuring, we managed to have all players square off in one - if not two, matches! Shore walked away with a few wins, and players got to engage in more than one level of competition. Overall, while not everyone was ecstatic with his or her outcome, our squad left smiling from the confidence-building experience.
Shore encountered an experienced and polished squash team in Fay today. Our players battled hard, winning gritty points, but the result went to Fay.
