Colleen Parenteau, Recipient of PIN Community Service Award

Shore Country Day School’s Community Garden project, led by Shore teacher Colleen Parenteau, has been selected as a recipient of a Community Service Award from the Parents’ Independent School Network (PIN) for a second consecutive academic year. Shore received recognition for the award, in the form of a monetary grant, on April 26th at St. Sebastian’s School in Dedham.

Shore Community Garden will use the grant to fund the construction of additional planting beds. The expansion of the Community Garden will allow additional crops to be grown and donated, while also serving as a learning laboratory for Shore students, who are actively involved in planning, planting, maintaining and harvesting the garden. In the past, the Shore Community Garden has supplied over 200 pounds of produce to Beverly Bootstraps annually, as well as to Shore’s own dining hall.

PIN is a non-profit organization dedicated to facilitating communication to foster the sharing of ideas and best practices among independent elementary and secondary schools in New England. PIN’s Community Service Awards recognize community service projects demonstrating exemplary creativity and originality, and are awarded annually.
