Shore's Annual Flag Raising Kicks Off the 2025-2026 School Year

Shore’s annual Flag Raising ceremony on September 2, 2025, was the perfect way to kick off the new school year! Campus was alive with excitement and laughter as the entire community gathered in the center of campus, around the flagpole, for Head of School Amber Bock’s opening address. After a long summer vacation, the ceremony signifies new beginnings and a fresh start for everyone on campus, from our brand new Pre-K 1 students to colleagues who’ve dedicated many years to the Shore community. The Shore beaver came out of his den to make an appearance, adding another layer to the joy of the return of our community to campus.

After a touching tribute from a group of Grade 5 students singing The Star Spangled Banner, Bock introduced the 2025-2026 Grade 8 Leadership Ambassadors, speaking about the role that our student leaders play on campus and the expanded presence and importance that the class takes on as the eldest group on campus. From there, Bock launched into an energetic and overwhelmingly positive address, touching on a number of facets of Shore’s Community Code, introducing a metaphor of a ‘double rainbow’ for the year, which was based on an incredible double rainbow that occurred over Shore’s campus at the end of the summer, and delivering an inspiring message to the gathered crowd. The metaphor is simple, but the depth behind the words cannot be understated, encouraging students to give twice as much effort, have twice as much fun, and to truly embody their best selves. Whether you’re brand new to Shore, or are a longtime community member, the 2025-2026 school year will be one to remember!
