Shore Falls to Brookwood

It is always a fun, energetic battle between the Herons and the Beavers.  Today, 7th grader Jessell stepped into the net for us (brave soul), and our team made the best out of a warmup.  The game started, and after a goal from the Herons, the Beavers came back with an answer or two.  The "draw" was critical today.  The "draw" occurs after every goal in women's lacrosse, and we needed to win that ball on the draw.  When a team wins the draw, stats will tell you that winning the draw will win the game. - and this was our path to claw back.  We tried every trick we could think of with 8 of our players stepping into the midfield to win the ball - and control the attack.  But Brookwood snagged a few more from us - resulting into goals.  But we didn't give up and the girls played with poise and passion until the last seconds.  The highlight of the game can't be just one.  So, therefore there are two.  The first highlight is the SAVE Jessell made when one of their 8th graders attempted a behind-the-back at point black in the final 5 minutes, and our fearless goalie volunteer refused it!   The other highlight was a transition made from heaven.  After a quick draw, we win the ball - then make a quick triangle pass progression through the 12 meter to the perfect draw-and-dump with a goal (assist Izzy, Alessandra, and goal Ella).   I think I even yelled, "NOW THATTTTT IS HOW YOU PLAY LACROSSE!".  The winds may have blown in the wrong direction for us on this one but we can learn so much, move forward - and continue to progress as a team once again on Monday (after team photos - reminder!!!!!! Bring your uniform on Monday and wash your hair).
I am so proud of you.  We will continue to learn, push and progress!!
