Students Win Recognition in Teen Poetry Contest

Two eighth grade students earned recognition in the middle school division of the Beverly Public Library’s 25th annual Teen Poetry Contest. The contest results were announced April 28, 2021.

Arianna Bocchino won first prize for her poem, “Don’t Cry in the Dark,” and fellow eighth grader Rae Hanlon won an honorable mention for her poem, “I Wonder.”

The annual poetry contest is for middle and high school students who live, or attend school, in Beverly. Their poems are published in a booklet that is distributed to the students and their families, as well as kept in the library’s permanent collection. Cash prizes are awarded in two age categories, grades 6-8 and grades 9-12. All finalists receive cash prizes, in varying levels based on their placement of Honorable Mention, Third, Second, and First Prize.
