Spirit Day Game vs Brookwood

Yesterday, to get the team focused and fired up, we played a quick game of “Would you rather” in the huddle.  Would you rather be the incoming winning team or the underdog? They all agreed - the underdog is much more fun and inspiring. I reminded the team that yesterday was THEIR game, THEIR time, and THEIR opportunity.  We had nothing to lose.  Coming off a 5-16 loss against this same team 3 weeks ago, we had everything to gain in this rematch.

We also reminded the girls of things we can’t control like how many goals Brookwood may score and how many saves their goalie may make.  Instead, let’s focus on the things we can control:  our hustle, grit, teamwork, communication, and effort.  Great listeners because if you were there to see it, it was tremendous - this team's pure hustle and all-out effort to get a ground ball, or cause a turnover, or coming up with caused turnovers on our “ride” - it an honor to witness.  They played for themselves and for their teammates and not just for a win.  Revenge is also a great motivator.

Noelle (AKA “No Way Noelle”) - our brave goalie for the day, came up with 7 saves having never been in goal before (and saving against some of the toughest competitors on the entire North Shore).

We also want to thank our 2 JV players Brynley and Ellie who gave everything they had yesterday and contributed substantially.

A 10-10 tie was a win for us.  We got our swagger back,  we played our game, and once again, we witnessed them play beautiful lacrosse and that isn’t easy when you are playing such a tough team like Brookwood yesterday.  The connections in the midfield were the best Nancy and I have seen!

Huge team effort.  Especially on Shore Spirit Day - we couldn’t be more proud of this team… stay tuned for more from this group!
