Shore Launches Strategic Planning Process
Dear Shore families and friends,
Thank you for choosing to be part of the Shore Country Day School community. It is my honor and a great source of pride to be part of this community both as a parent and currently as the President of our Board of Trustees.
Shore Country Day School’s Board of Trustees is responsible for school governance. We support and oversee the work of Clair Ward and her administrative team, who manage all day-to-day operations of the school. We ensure that the school is on good financial footing, set long-term strategy, and work to protect Shore’s overall health and sustainability while protecting its mission and values. We serve the entire Shore community with a keen focus on making sure the school is relevant and valuable for students and families today while remaining well-positioned to serve the students and families of tomorrow.
This year, we are excited to embark with you on creating a new strategic plan that will move Shore to the next level of excellence in Pre-K–9 education. We promise you that it will be a fully-inclusive process where everyone in our community will have opportunities to shape the future of the school we love—through open lines of communication, focus groups and surveys, and at our community-wide Visioning Day on February 1.
The full strategic planning process will involve examining our strengths—with an eye toward leveraging those strengths—as well as identifying areas for growth internally; we will also dig deep into research on social, technological, economic, environmental, and political factors that may affect our school. In short, this process is our chance to imagine together the ways in which Shore can continue to grow and thrive as an institution in the years ahead. We will share the results of our strategic planning work in the spring of 2020 and launch the initiatives that grow out of the completed plan in the fall of 2020.
I am thrilled to announce that we have retained the services of Christina Drouin, from The Center for Strategic Planning, to facilitate this process with the us. Mrs. Drouin, a national leader in the field of independent school strategic planning, has decades of experience doing this important work with schools across the country. With her we have already begun to examine Shore’s strengths, areas for growth, and exciting new opportunities. Now, we are looking forward to hearing your voice during the next stages of the strategic planning process, most importantly on Visioning Day, February 1.
Let us promise one another that it is our shared mission to help Shore realize its fullest capacity for the benefit of our children and our children’s children. I’m thrilled to be engaged with Shore during these dynamic times and look forward to working together to solidify Shore’s future.
