JV1 Survives Overtime Thriller Vs. Landmark!

After a thrilling game with Rockport Middle School, we squared in another nail-biter of a game versus a stout Landmark squad today. Not only was it our first away game since our season opener at Brookwood, but it was also a rare overtime game to boot! We got off to a strong start in the first half, capitalizing on slashing to the hoop for high percentage drives. Although we held onto a six point lead for most of the first half action, Landmark utilized its speed and fastbreak offense to keep within striking distance the whole way through. Both teams traded baskets back and forth into the second half. However, down the stretch of the game, we had a series of unlucky layup attempts that rolled in and out or were just a tad too strong. Landmark maximized our cold stretch by hitting some incredible off-balance three pointers that narrowed our lead, and, eventually, tied the game at the end of regulation. Undeterred and resilient, we took the court for a hard-fought three minute overtime period. Our defense managed to generate key turnovers and convert on offense with a clutch three point shot and a clinching drive which brought our lead to four. We stayed composed for our final two possessions and were able to successfully run the clock down to seal our victory. We are especially proud of our two most recent games, as we have been tested by tough opponents and kept the action competitive whether win or lose. We look forward to honing our skills over the next few days and heading off to Fessenden next Tuesday!
