Opening Day of Fall Sports Season Brings Return to Interscholastic Competition

The fall sports season got underway at Shore on September 22 as athletes took on visiting teams on Shore’s athletic fields for the first time since the coronavirus pandemic began.

According to Athletic Director Nancy McNall, “We were all grateful to return to a season that felt normal—a season with games, uniforms, and van rides to our peer schools. Athletes and coaches should feel proud for getting back out there and making afternoons at Shore come alive.”

Opening day was particularly exciting, says McNall. “Girls Varsity Soccer had a game on the upper field while JV2 soccer was hosting on the the lower field. Varsity Field Hockey was preparing for a game with Brookwood. There was just a buzz in the air with so much happening: opponents arriving, teams warming up, referees trying to find their game field, and, arguably best of all, spectators walking onto the field once again. All this noise, hustle, and bustle had been missing for too long. At that moment, it felt like school was back in full gear and, despite what the scores may have been, that afternoon felt like a win for all of us.”
