Student-Led Food Drive Provides Holiday Meals for Local Families

Shore students, families, and employees came through for local residents during a Thanksgiving Food drive for Beverly Bootstraps, donating over 100 full meals and extra provisions for a total of 1309 pounds of food that will go to families in the greater Beverly area. Eighth grade fall term service students took the lead in organizing this year’s drive and delivering the donations to Beverly Bootstraps with the help of science teacher Oliver Hay and Latin teacher Doug Lucey. Many hands across all grade levels gathered items from the Lower School Kiva and Upper School advisory rooms to create these Thanksgiving meal kits. Even Shore’s Houses took part, decorating special bags for each family.

Sixth grade student volunteers were crucial in the packaging of completed meals. Sixth grader Isabella Racho said, “It is just fun for me. I just like to help out.” Fellow sixth grader Caroline Winthrop said, “I feel fulfilled helping because I am helping families around Beverly have a happy holiday.” And Georgia Noble said, “Volunteering and doing stuff like this makes me happy and makes me feel good.” We are grateful for the selfless acts by so many at Shore and also for our partnership with Beverly Bootstraps that led to such a successful drive this year. We wish everyone a safe and healthy Thanksgiving season!
