DuKatz ’20 Releases Music Single

Congratulations to Ashley DuKatz ’20, a junior at Pingree School, who released her first musical single, “Waiting For,” October 22 on Spotify and Apple Music. According to DuKatz, who wrote the song with Pingree alum Brandon Greenstein, the two created the danceable track together for Greenstein’s senior project last spring, “recording the song and the music video in under a week!” Listen to a preview of the song and read more below.

DuKatz says she was first inspired to pursue music at Shore. “Shore is where my musicality really thrived, because of all of the ways I could express myself and discover new ways to be an artist through the amazing arts program.” What stands out for DuKatz about the arts program at Shore, she explains, is that “I always felt supported by my teachers, in the arts and academics, and I think that contributed a lot to my experience there. Additionally, the arts program, specifically the winter musical and a capella, are such incredible resources. After graduating I’ve realized just how amazing the experience of the arts at Shore is and how much it shaped my love for music.”

Now, at Pingree, DuKatz has continued to follow her passion, performing in both theater productions that are offered throughout the year. “Something new that has been really beneficial at Pingree is the recording studio, where Brandon and I first started recording together. The studio provides a really great opportunity for students to explore different aspects of the music industry other than an instrument, like production and beat making.”
