Students Earn Distinction in National Latin Exam

Seven Shore students earned top marks in the National Latin Exam, given each spring. This year's winners were Maya Hinrichsen (Grade 6) and Gray Driscoll (Grade 8) earning cum Laude; Amanda Cooper (Grade 8) earning Magna cum Laude; Zane Eskandar and Maia Schor (Grade 6) earning Maxima cum Laude; and Charlie Seliger (Grade 7) and Henry Foster (Grade 8) earning the highest mark of Summa cum Laude.

The National Latin exam is taken by over 88,000 students around the world, spanning all 50 states, the District of Columbia, and 20 foreign countries. Students field questions about Roman culture, English vocabulary, and Latin grammar.

"Congratulations to all this year's participants," said Latin and English teacher Doug Lucey. "To the victors go the spoils!"
