Food Drives Benefit Local Residents

With food insecurity on the rise in the greater Beverly area, Shore partnered with local nonprofit Beverly Bootstraps for a second time this school year by holding a February food and diaper drive that garnered 684 pounds of donated items. According to the agency, their clients’ greatest needs included cereal, canned fruit, canned soup, macaroni and cheese, and diapers for young children. Eighth and ninth graders loaded up bags of food and diapers for a February 25 delivery. Head of Upper School Gustavo Carrera said, “It is exceptional; the kids rose to the occasion at every level.”

In the fall, Lower and Upper School families donated holiday food items adding up to 115 bags of Thanksgiving fixings in Shore’s annual drive to support Beverly Bootstraps. Fifth and ninth graders bagged up the completed meal kits before they were sent off to the agency to be weighed. Shore’s donations came in at a whopping 988 pounds.
