Families Unite in Service

On November 8, 2019, dozens of families came together in Shore's Dining Hall for a United in Service event to benefit local nonprofits. United in Service, a partnership with the United Way of Massachusetts Bay and Merrimack Valley, is now in its fifth year at Shore. "Students, families, faculty, and staff worked hard to create thoughtful, meaningful items that will truly make a difference to people in need in our community," said United in Service Co-Chair Patti Murphy.

Participants assembled family breakfast kits for local school backpack programs, created cheerful get-well cards for patients at Beverly Hospital, decorated dozens of reusable bags for Shore’s annual Thanksgiving food drive to benefit Beverly Bootstraps, made no-sew blankets to go to beneficiaries of Shore's Giving Tree, created festive holiday ornaments for veterans in honor of Veterans Day, and organized bins of diapers, wipes, bottles, pacifiers, and pajamas for Fostering Care, which aids children who are entering foster care.

"The Shore community’s dedication to helping others is remarkable," said Murphy. "The generosity and commitment of Shore volunteers once again made for a successful event."
