Grade 1 Celebrates Books at Budding Bibliophiles Ball

First grade students dressed as their favorite fictional charaters were joined by their parents for the annual Budding Bibliophiles Ball on April 4. The long-running event, a celebration of books, reading, and writing, is a highlight of the year for Grade 1. Divided into "brigades," students paraded across the stage in the Trustey Family Theatre to be officially "knighted" by Dean of Students Sean Melia as Budding Bibliophiles. In the Library and Upper Kiva, they also shared artoworks and creative writing on iPads. Said first grade teacher Mary Kinahan, "It was delightful to observe the children's unbridled excitement and pride as they moved through each of the stations sharing their work with their parents." The special occasion concluded with a dance for both parents and students.
