Shore Drops Home Opener

Shore opened up their season on a cold, windy Wednesday afternoon.  Kealan Biebsheimer provided 2 strong innings on the bump for Shore, while Sam Borggaard finished the last 5.  In the field, Shore played excellent defense, thanks to spectacular plays by Hugh Park in right, Will Charmin in center, and Sam Izzo at second.  With a runner  on third base in the 4th inning, Borggaard fielded a ground ball hit back to the mound, froze the runner, and then threw the ball to Biebsheimer at first to get the force.  Biebsheimer then fired the ball to catcher Thomas Davis who made the sweep tag at the plate to thwart the Berwick scoring opportunity.  Wells Goltra added two hits to the effort, both hard hit singles.  Biebsheimer smoked a triple over the left fielder's head, knocking in a run.  Spencer Johnson also added a hit and a stolen base.  In the end, Shore could not complete the comeback despite fighting hard until the final out.  They look to bounce back next week against Pike at home.
