Prem '16 is Photo Finalist in National Geographic Student Contest

Rhea Prem '16 is one of 28 finalists in National Geographic's 2018 People's Choice Student Photo Contest. Currently a junior at Phillips Academy Andover, Prem captured her photo, titled "Goodbye is Not Forever," during a trip in Niswarth, India, with Andover's "Learning in the World" program last summer.

"Photography to me is about a love for everything around you," says Prem. "From nature to people to pebbles on the crosswalk, everything is beautiful and photography allows you to capture that beauty."

During her summer study in India, Prem and fellow travelers partnered with students from the Riverside School in Ahmedabad to understand urban and rural development projects focused on education, healthcare, economic opportunity, and nutrition.

Prem is a photographer with Andover's Phillipian student news publication as well as a competitor with Andover's Girls Track team.
