Why Shore?

Located on a 17-acre campus in Beverly, MA, Shore Country Day School is a Pre-K – Grade 9 community where joyful learning is the foundation for children’s intellectual and personal transformation. We empower young people to take charge of their own education, and we nurture their commitment to equity and social justice in the world around them. Exceptionally well prepared to thrive in secondary school and beyond, Shore students are inspired for life.

Our Teachers

A Shore education is the direct result of a team of extraordinary professional educators, who see teaching at Shore as an art rather than a job. Shore faculty members are recognized by parents year after year for their ability to care for each student individually, and to engage every learner in adventurous education. Supported by robust investment in professional development, our teachers are proud to see themselves as guides and coaches challenging students of every age to become advocates of their own learning.

Our Touchstones

Shore’s Community Code, a shared vision of respect and responsibility, is at the heart of everything we do. Its six simple tenets signal the central place of social-emotional development in the school’s program, and outline the aspirations we hold for every member of our community. The House system, which regularly brings together students of all ages in six different all-school Houses, is where the Community Code comes to life. Shore’s Equity & Inclusion Commitment extends the Community Code out into the world, demonstrating the fundamental role that social justice education plays at Shore.

Our Transformative Approach

In every aspect of their school lives, children at Shore are encouraged to take “good risks”—from stepping on the stage for the first time to braving an overnight trip to speaking up around the Harkness table. Shore students are asked, time and again, to step outside their comfort zones, relishing new and unfamiliar experiences and ideas, bouncing back from failure with new determination, accepting feedback from peers, and confidently offering their own. The result is a resilience that’s as important in school as it is in life.
