Doug Worthen Mindfulness Presentation

Trustey Family Theatre
Doug Worthen, mindfulness instructor at the Middlesex School in Concord, MA, will be giving a presentation on mindfulness to the Upper School students and faculty.

All parents are encouraged to attend.

Doug has completed the MBSR (Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction) teacher training practicum from UMass and the Mindful Education Institute one-year teacher training. He began practicing mindfulness meditation in 1999 as a member of the UVA national championship lacrosse team and has been a dedicated practitioner ever since. Living through two bouts of lymphoma, which included a bone marrow transplant in 2007, Doug will be talking about his personal path to mindfulness, as well as the growing movement towards bringing it into educational settings.

Some benefits of mindfulness practice:
  • increased focus
  • reduced stress and anxiety
  • approach situations with a new perspective
  • less impulsive behavior
  • emotional and social well being
