Affordability Process

Families with a wide range of incomes may qualify for financial assistance. Awards are need-based and take into account circumstances that are unique to each family. We are always happy to discuss your questions, and we encourage you to generously share information and details on your financial assistance forms. As you begin the application process, please make special note of the following policies and perspectives on financial assistance at Shore:

  • All financial assistance is based on an individual family’s need. No award is made on the basis of a student’s academic, athletic, or other talents.
  • While family income is an important consideration in the size of the grant, factors such as assets, liabilities and the number of children in tuition-charging schools or colleges are also considered.
  • All parents of each financial assistance applicant are expected to complete forms and to support the applicant financially to the extent that they can.
  • Financial assistance application forms must be submitted each year. Families can expect the same level of support throughout each child’s years at Shore if demonstrated need remains the same. Conversely, financial assistance is likely to change if the family situation changes significantly.
  • While Shore strives to communicate both admissions and financial assistance decisions on the same timetable, applying for admissions and financial assistance are two separate processes. Applying for financial assistance has no bearing on the Admissions Committee’s decision regarding acceptance to the school.
  • All applications for financial assistance are held in strictest confidence. Only members of the Financial Assistance Committee have access to records.

Step One

Learn about Financial Assistance Policies and Procedures

Shore Country Day School partners with School and Student Services (SSS) By NAIS in our financial assistance process. To begin your annual financial assistance application, you will complete SSS’s Parents’ Financial Statement (PFS). Completing the PFS online will save you time and money, and help us make our financial assistance decisions more quickly.

The PFS is a comprehensive application that will take some time to complete. Give yourself the time you need by not waiting until the deadline to begin. You’ll need your most recent tax return before beginning the PFS. We also recommend that you review the wide range of materials, downloads and webinars that SSS has put together to help families with the financial assistance process. They can be found at the NAIS website.

Please see Financial Assistance FAQ's for more detailed information.
