Beginning when the Trustey family first joined the Shore community in 2008, Kris and Joe, P '13, '15 worked as active volunteer leaders to enhance and improve Anna and Claire’s school for their classmates and for future generations of Shore students and teachers.
Joe Trustey (1962–2015) served as President of the Board of Trustees from 2012 to 2015. To honor his memory and legacy, the Board of Trustees of Shore Country Day School established the Joseph F. Trustey Endowed Fund in September 2015 so the Trustey family will have a permanent legacy through gifts to the endowment. Distributions from the Fund shall be made at the discretion of the Head of School, determined at the time of use for the “best purpose,” so that income can be allocated where it is needed most. The Fund, which will serve as a testament to Joe’s service, generosity, and leadership at Shore and in the community, will have a special emphasis on providing financial assistance for deserving students.
When Joe joined Shore’s Board of Trustees in 2011, he brought with him a sense of urgency and purpose that inspired his peers to elect him President, a position he held from 2012 to 2015. Joe’s decisive leadership and clear vision for the future pushed the Board of Trustees and Administration to think differently about how and what the school teaches. He made important decisions during his tenure that have made a lasting impact on Shore’s campus and programs, not least of which was the launch of the At Our Finest campaign, which has given the school the Lawrence A. Griffin Center for Creativity and increased Shore’s endowment. Joe bears much of the credit for expanding and elevating the arts program at Shore, for making the drive for an increased endowment a priority, and for overseeing a new strategic planning process that will guide the school for years to come.
Gifts to The Joseph F. Trustey Endowed Fund will be included in the At Our Finest campaign to help bring the campaign to a successful conclusion.
Gifts in memory of Joe and Anna Trustey may be sent to the attention of:
