World Languages Completes New Lower School Spanish Curriculum

Shore's Department of World Languages is proud to announce the completion of its exciting new Spanish curriculum for the Lower School. Shore's Focus Grant, awarded annually to a department or group for curriculum development or a special project, supported its creation. Language teachers worked for a year and a half to create a comprehensive curriculum that consists of 29 booklets based on themes, including colors and shapes, body parts, the house, animals, clothing, emotions, etc., 10 illustrated story books, and a music CD to complement the curriculum. Ali W. and William L., two Upper School students, made drawings for four of the story books, and Georgia (Grade 5), provided some vocals for the CD. Shore currently offers Spanish in all grades, Readiness through Grade 9. Classes are interactive and fun, and students leave Shore well prepared to continue language acquisition.
