4/28/2010
On April 27 two Shore students read their poetry to an audience of parents, friends, and teachers at the Beverly Public Library. Students submitted their poetry to the annual contest that is judged by two local writers. Thirty finalists were chosen from the 281 poems submitted this year.
Amy T., a seventh grader, won Third Prize in the Middle School Division for her poem "Stones into Schools", based on Greg Mortenson's book about his experiences in Pakistan. Sara P., a sixth grader, won Honorable Mention for her powerful, descriptive poem "The Falcon."
